Graffiti Shield is back in Downtown Los Angeles, tackling a challenging storefront restoration for a multi-unit apartment complex — and this one was no easy task. Our crew was called in to address heavy graffiti damage, including spray paint and acid etching, which had severely affected the street-level glass.
This two-day project kicked off with some serious prep work. On Day 1, our technicians removed the old protective film — which had served its purpose well — and got to work cleaning and sanding down the glass itself. The acid etching had left deep marks that required smoothing to prepare the surface for our Glass Shield installation.
Glass Shield is a 4 or 6 mil thick clear, undetectable sacrificial film designed to protect glass from vandalism like scratching, acid damage, and graffiti. Once damaged, it can be peeled off and replaced quickly — restoring the glass to a clean, like-new appearance without the need for full replacement.
Thanks to the skilled efforts of our two technicians, Day 1 saw a major turnaround. The surfaces were cleaned, leveled, and partially covered with fresh film — setting the stage for a complete transformation to be finished on Day 2.
We’ll be posting our Day 2 video soon, so stay tuned. This project is a great example of how Glass Shield not only prevents future damage but also revives heavily vandalized surfaces.
